Quote of the day

Funny how it's only the regimes that support socialism (preferably of a racialist tendency) or anti-modern theocracy that are deemed worthy of "peace" protestor support.
- Antoine Clarke, Samizdata

Leftist anti-war confusions

In the article I have highlighted in the "Quote of the day" above, Antoine Clarke at Samizdata points out the hypocrisy of anti-war arguments among what is so accurately described as the "Communist Dictator Defence League"

Terrorist-loving psycho writes in

Our local appalling news rag - The Canberra Times - attracts all sorts of idiots, and the letters page today features a serious heavyweight loon...

'Decent' claim is ludicrous
Saturday, 4 January 2003

THE Howard Government's terror ads are despicable. Suggesting that Australians are "decent" is a lot of rot.

The last federal election and Howard's popularity attest to how indecent Australians are. While we remain the only nation to practise mandatory detention of asylum seekers, any such claim is ludicrous.

The terror ads show Howard has decided that his promise to make us relaxed and comfortable was non-core. His power is entirely based on making us scared and feeling vulnerable.

This "terrorist" bogeyman is a fictional character that is able to be transformed into any nation, be it Iraq or North Korea. All I know is that some of my heroes have been terrorists, or labelled as such. Che Guevara and Mandela are just a couple of them.

My enemy is the United States of America, Israel, and capitalism. Howard doesn't need my neighbours to dob me in - I would blow those three evils sky high. Unfortunately, I do not have the means, so ASIO can relax. I believe that it is now the greatest honour to be called a terrorist. The better moniker would be "freedom fighter".

No, the better moniker in your case is sociopath. Though for the majority of the modern left, this pretty much goes without saying.

Another friendly Islamic website

Here's Islam Online's Q&A section on homosexuals.....

Q: Here in the Netherlands, and the West in general, we --Muslims-- have the problem of dealing with the homosexuality issue. I heard many Imams saying that we should teach our children how to avoid that problem. Dear Sheikh how do you think we should approach the gay issue? and how we should teach our kids?

A: [...] Homosexuality is not because of anything of genes nor is it a social phenomenon to be accepted, but usually it is an infection that could be transmitted to people exactly like trafficking drugs. We should know that when a homosexual person is in friendship or company of another person, then homosexuality will be transmitted.

Trust me, this is as tolerant as it gets.

Go look at The Mirror website, and view their "it's all about oiiiiil" pop-up ad. If you get a different ad then hit "refresh" and you should get it eventually.

Well this is just lovely

This should make Amir Butler and Keysar Trad very happy: a woman in Dubai who says she was gang-raped has been charged with adultery.

Way to uphold Islamic values guys. Kudos to you for resisting western decadence.

Wogblog clobbers The Arts

Go read this delicious whacking of the eternally sanctimonious, parasitic Australian arts community, in particular, a piece published in the Fin. Review titled Ideology and the Threat to the Arts. This bit was my favourite.....

The arts have not and never will be the 'core' of this country. And Keating saying they were the 'core' was nothing more than keeping his loyal troupe of wankers sweet. I maintain the Keating era was embarrassing all round for Oz. When the 'arts community' in a democratic peaceful nation roundly supports the government of the day, as they always do under Labor, but most pathetically under Keating, then you can be sure the 'art' will be irrelevant, poor quality and only arts wankers will give two shits about it.

Bwahaha. Magnificent.

The wonders of Kwaanza

I think the bloke at Bleeding Brain doesn't much like this holiday.

Strawman vs. Russia

Bovination argues the Russkies have no moral claim to Chechnya.

Krauthammer on chess

The Hammer has this cute little column about his own chess club.

Axl Rose (yeah, he's still alive)

The Guardian has a good essay on the bizarre slow decline of rock-n-roll nut-job Axl Rose.

The Libertarian Gathering, mk II

Went to my second libertarian dinner tonight, at the "Legends" Spanish restaurant in Manuka. Some kick-ass grub, and I was introduced to the wonderful world of Sangria, drinking a whole jug myself.

A smaller turnout than last time, but still much fun was had, including a lengthy argument about Israel, which is always fun. The Australian's Duncan McFarlane gave us the good news that the launch of the Aussie libertarian Überblog draws closer, and I also met 'Strawman' from the mighty Oz site Bovination.

We adjourned to a bar where much cheap beer was had and I got thoroughly plastered. Many thanks to fellow libertarian Stephen Dawson, who performed the designated driver-cum-taxi service. We also nearly crashed into 50 kangaroos on the way home. I've done a lot of night travelling in this country, and I have never seen so many kangaroos on the road as I did tonight. They were like bloody locusts out there. What the hell was going on already??

America's most worthless ally

Dave Sims has some strong opinions about South Korean idiots.

Life under communist horror

...and in case you needed any further proof of the life-sucking terrors of this diseased ideology, I thoroughly recommend this excellent article by Anthony Daniels about North Korea (you know, that nice country those evil americans are so rude about);

George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four is to North Korea as Paradise is to Hell, and Winston Smith is a free man by comparison with a North Korean. As for Big Brother, he is a weakly liberal by comparison with the Dear Leader and his fat filial successor, the Dear Leader. No mere theocracy ever demanded veneration of a deity to compare with that offered up routinely to the two Kims by a terrorised population.

Anyone who has been to North Korea will never forget the evil he encountered there: except, perhaps, for the former US President Jimmy Carter, who managed to see in Pyongyang a second Manhattan. This was not blindness, it was hallucination.

Everyone in North Korea must wear a badge bearing the Leader's picture, and every room must display a portrait of him. Political propaganda is as inescapable in North Korea as the air you breathe, and has been for more than half a century. Loudspeakers allow you no peace: it is like being cornered by the pub bore forever, without any opportunity to shut him up, leave the pub or answer him back. After a few days, you feel that you are going mad: no wonder everyone looks numb, zombified. The blank expressions of people in North Korea is almost as terrifying as their orchestrated expressions, as when they have been told to smile or wave on special occasions decreed by the regime.

no one who has experienced North Korea can for an instant doubt the regime's utter ruthlessness, its imperviousness to the faintest considerations of humanity. It counts the lives of its own people no higher than those of ants.

I wonder when all the world's endlessly whinging, stupid worthless lefty asshole losers will stop squealing their pathetic heads off about the americans and actually concentrate on countries which really are evil, psychotic nations. I won't hold my breath though. You can bet the snivelling peacenick crowd - the same filthy scum who applaud the murderous Fidel Castro - will howl with outrage at any attempts to end the reign of the North Korean despots.

It's the same mental virus that polluted every half-wit in the cold war, who didn't see fit to criticise Uncle Joe Stalin while he slaughtered millions, who turned a blind eye to Pol Pot because he was "for the peasants". The price to pay for socialist principles is heavy, and the North Koreans are more aware of it than anybody.

I've said it before: if there's an afterlife then the tyrant-tolerant, hate-america crowd will be sitting in the same corner of hell as Dr. Joseph Mengele.

Kicking George Monbiot when he's up

David Carr at Samizdata has a priceless takedown of Guardian leftist moron George Monbiot;

Buying the Guardian is definitely bad. Otherwise that one sentence contains everything you need to know about Mr.Monbiot. He is a jealous, begruding loser who has spun an ideological mask of deceit around himself in order to provide a fig-leaf for his po-faced, anti-human, defeatist miserabilism.

Happy New Year

It is now 2003 in Australia. Happy new year to you all.

Hitchens on North Korea

Interesting article. One line stood out for me....

I've learned since, from other countries, that international "inspectors" are not always to be relied upon.

What, really?

Gerard Henderson vs. hyperbole

Great piece today, where Gerard reviews some of the more absurd statements made during 2002.

I've added the Québéc libertarian website Le Québécois Libre to the links list. And yes, they have lots of articles in English.

2002 Crackpot of The Year: Richard Neville

Ex-hippie, sadcase and general raving loon Richard (lets call him "Dick") Neville is back to blogging with his latest...erm....essay, titled "Maybe Dr Evil Isn't Who You Think". It's a masterpiece of conspiracy theory, ignorance, leftist paranoia and the best evidence yet that Dick's brain has enjoyed way too much chemical engorgement.

The essay (something about computer problems, Americans destroying the planet and our evil Prime Minister) is too long to tackle in full. Not that it matters, as these borderline-psychotic yelps are almost impossible to take out of context (there isn't any). Here are my favourites from this edition of classic Dick-isms....

One outcome of today’s Totalitarian Creep, is that imminent instrument of oppression, Total Information Awareness. An upside is that the Pentagon is likely to launch a lucrative sideline, Total Global Back-Up. Now that we’re citizens-without-rights in a looming American Empire and privacy is considered unpatriotic, we might at least get Total Data Protection.

On behalf of the readers, I say: huh???

Why should non US citizens be bullied by an uptight government in which they have no say? A regime which aspires to rule the world is one to bemoan, not congratulate.

You're right Dick: they were known as The Soviet Union, and the Americans killed them off good, much your chagrin no doubt...

Athens could have been the bread basket of Europe. Instead, the drudgery of grinding the corn was left to the slaves and not even philosophers cared about them. Slaves were non people. It was the same in the Roman empire, the British Empire and now the American Empire.

Slavery was abolished in the USA well over a century ago, Dick. Funnily enough, it still exists in a lot of those honest-to-goodness non-American countries you never criticise.

The innovations of the Greeks centred on intellectual liberation. The innovations of the West centre on weapons, toys and consumer products .

That would be because we're already intellectually liberated, Dick. This gives us the time to be productive and buy n' sell stuff.

Today’s Socrates would ask:

Socrates wouldn't have touched these questions for all the caramel inside your head, Dick.

• By what law, either moral or legal, is it okay for some nations to possess and sell weapons of mass destruction, while others cannot?

"Common Sense" would be my guess, Dick. It's the same reason the USA went to fight against Hitler and not Churchill (though Richard would have argued they both had naughty bombs and guns, so the English were as bad as the Nazis)

• It is no longer possible to turn a blind eye to global warming, the major impact of which will fall on the developing world. Australia and the US refuse to co-operate with the 100 plus signatories of Kyoto – by what right?

The right of people not to want their economy destroyed by lefty junk science while developing nations' "greenhouse sins" go unpunished.

• If the sea level rises in Bangladesh and millions of refugees head towards Oz, who will decide their fate? Those who caused it?

The Australian Government is responsible for rising sea levels?

• What is the difference between a bomber pilot and a suicide bomber, other than one is airborne, the other is braver & neither go to jail?

Yes, he really wrote this.

• If a Prime Minister who professes to be ethical is found to found to engage in serious deception and nepotism, as well as the condoning of his minister’s conflicts of interest, in what esteem should he be held?

Pretty high esteem if three election victories and current opinion polls are anything to go by.

• Over 3000 “suspected” al Qaeda members and “their supporters,” whatever that means, have been detained in secret locations outside the US since 9/11, without due process or legal representation. Torture is routinely inflicted, despite US Government crocodile condemnations.

Secret locations? Torture? This guy needs to see a doctor.

• When the Australian Minister of Immigration knowingly deports refugees to a land where death awaits them, why is he not charged with their murder?

Maybe because he didn't murder anybody.

My oft disputed claim that America’s plans to dominate the world at any cost is largely based on observation and inference.

Paranoia and stupidity more like.

Let’s ponder the implications of this policy, one of Pre-emptive Lifestyle Protection. If Australia invents a cheap, patented, ubiquitous source of clean energy which drives new kinds of engines and threatens Detroit, will Sydney be bombed?

If a Global Messiah emerges to popularise the practice of voluntary simplicity and the rejection of Hollywood, will he be liquidated by a robo-assassin?

If famished Africans refuse to consume GM modified mood, will they be left to starve?

Hard to see how this could be prevented if they refuse to eat.

Right on! Unleash the Predators. Send in the Special Forces. Lie to the world. Torture all suspects. Hurrah for Pre-emptive Lifestyle Protection. Tra la la la la..

Somebody needs his meds.

There are more popular loons (Moore) and more despicable ones (Pilger, Chomsky and 99% of Islamic websites), but for sheer, deranged bats-in-the-belfry ravings, Richard Neville is simply without peer.

Bill Whittle has a new essay up, guaranteed to make all the terminally insecure hate-America crowd froth at the mouth. I loved this bit....

And these feared and ruthless Americans, a people who had incinerated cities in Europe and Japan and whose ferocity and tenacity on island jungles and French beaches had brought fanatical warrior cultures to their knees – what did these new conquerors of the world do?

They went home is what they did. They did pause for a few years to rebuild the nations sworn to their destruction and the murder of their people. They carbon-copied their own system of government and enforced it on their most bitterly hated enemy, a people who have since given so much back to the world as a result of this generosity. They left troops in and sent huge sums of money to Europe to rebuild what they all knew would eventually become trading partners, but also determined competitors. Then they sent huge steel blades through their hard-earned fleets of ships and airplanes and came home to get on with their lives in peace and quiet.

Oh, and some of the islands they had visited had asked to remain under the American flag as territories and protectorates, free to leave whenever they choose.

If this is American tyranny, let there be more of it.

Top Wog

The Wogblogger is on a roll right now, with some top-shelf posts about illegal immigrant arsonists, the Windschuttle controversy, and Italian morons.

Blair vs. Moore

Tim Blair has a kick-ass review of Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine.

Lack of security at universities

Thanks to Zem at VigilantTV for the heads-up on this item....

I can already picture the inevitable moralist outrage that would accompany any person being excluded from certain fields of study as a result of their background. Sadly, for many people security will always play 2nd fiddle to not hurting anyone's feelings.

America yawns while the world doesn't really rebel

Pejman has some things to say.
