Actually, I enjoy the good old aussie BBQ, because they are a social gathering, usually with lots of beer.
But can we all stop kidding ourselves about how shit-hot the “great aussie BBQ” is?

Dunno what barbies Birmo’s being going to Tex, but at my place Mediterranean BBQ rules. Usually start off with grilled Haloumi cheese and chorizo with lemon as an entre. Then onto marinated baby octopus, lamb with babaganoush or tatziki and marinated baby beef (marinated in pickled chillies, olive oil, fresh rosemary and lemon rind). And lots of beer of course.
All of you guys (article author included) are comparing apples and oranges. American barbecue is different entirely from what Aussies and others call “barbecue”. American barbecue is smoking over low heat for a long time. Aussie barbecue (what an American would call “grilling”) is cooking over high heat for a short time. Totally different methods, totally different end products.
actualy, the great aussie bbq is just what it says. if you don’t like it go home
